The atmosphere of this song carries different layers and contrasts, as if each person’s perception changes with their state of mind. It might be described as “yandere,” that kind of seemingly fragile yet controlling emotion; or perhaps it’s “damp,” with a kind of oppressive moisture, as if the emotion can never truly dry out; it could also be “cold,” a suffocating chill that penetrates deep into the bones; or even “warm,” warm enough to make one feel entranced, yet still carrying a hint of hidden danger.
However, to be honest, I still haven’t found a word that fully captures the essence of this atmosphere. Every word seems like a fragment, while the complete emotion of this song transcends all of them.
When I first listened to the demo, the image that appeared in my mind was vividly clear, like sunlight bathing everything in its glow. A flower room on a sunny afternoon, light streaming through the windows, the air fragrant with the scent of blossoms. Two intimate lovers were sitting quietly, hands gently intertwined. The sunlight cast golden flecks on their bodies, gentle and peaceful, as though the whole world were enveloped in this warm glow. But then, suddenly, I noticed that the lover’s hand was cold, as if that warmth didn’t belong to her.
In that moment, I felt not just simple affection, but a pathological, extreme love—obsessive and pure. A love that is both desirable and unsettling, both nurturing and like poison.
Throughout the entire creative process, I felt as though I was always oscillating between restraint and release, with delicate emotions and subtle moods interweaving into a strange feeling. Every note, every lyric, every rise and fall of the melody, silently told the story of this complex love.
Not long after its release, the film was successfully selected for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner.
